Released in 2007, a national study conducted by Public/Private Ventures, a Philadelphia based national research organization, found that children who were matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister showed improvement in 8 academic areas. These include:

  • Overall academic performance
  • Increased performance in Science
  • Increased performance in Math
  • Increased performance in Oral Language
  • Quality and number of assignments turned in
  • Fewer serious school infractions
  • Improved scholastic efficacy
  • Reduced skipping school
